Happy Birthday Lowri!!
Here are some words from our students to and about Lowri Mills for her birthday!
I have a lot good things to remind about Lowri since I was a beginner. At night she talked to me after the classes because she was patient and tried to understand my accent in this time. She helped me a lot, I have to say thanks for her because she is very important to me.
She is a nice, special person and teacher too, I love her classes
I wish her to be happy, to have good health and to stay in Languagelab, because we need her here, as a teacher and a good friend .
I LOVE HER.

I don’t have any bad memories about her. That’s my favorite memory of her. lol. Actually shortly after I rejoined EC I was bored between classes and I spotted a fire engine parked along sidewalk. I got on it and found out i could drive it since it was open :) and I drove it into the welcome area and had some fun there although the staff there didn’t get me :) Shortly after Lowri IMed me and asked about it and laughed so hard lol. She must have received messages from the people in the welcome area. It was a fun and favorite memory of mine with her.
I like the way she laughs so cool :D and how she treats Pax like she is a mischievous kid lol it’s fun.
I wish her a happy, peaceful life / good health / a sexy boyfriend yay!

Although I haven’t talked to her much, I believe that Lowri is a strong woman. As she knows what she wants, she works hard to get her targets. I was amazed when she told me about the strategies she uses in English City to make it a perfect place for Learning English. I really like her continuous efforts to make English city people lucky to be there and give them a lot of chances to be better and better. I am so happy to meet such a great person and happier because I have learned a lot from her ideas.

Amazing english holiday
London, Stansted Airport 00:40 A.M. I’m sitted in the airport waiting for my flight that unfortunately will come back me to Italy and I can’t sleep so I thought to write a post for English City’s blog that talk about my amazing and unforgettable holiday in England.
I have been here for all May because my girlfriend is studying at Reading University (not too far from London) as Phd student so I took advantage of this oppurtunity to stay near her and visit England. The first week together to other my friends (they have enjoyed just a week of holiday), we have gone to London but just at the beginning we had an accident. Infact while we were walking on Oxford Street (London’s main street) one of my friends was run over by a double decked bus. I’d like to talk about this episode but as a long story I’ll write a post that talk about just for this (It’s a promise). Visited London in every minimum particoular, we moved to Reading where my girlfriend has an accomodation. After some day of shopping we went to visit Stonehange, a faboulous place that nowadays is shrouded in mistery. Finished the holiday for my friend, I have continued to visit England. So I went to Gloucester (an ugly city) to see the Cathedral where it was filmed Harry Potter, I visited Birmingham, Cardiff and then I went to admire Windsor’s castle that is one of the numerous residence of Royal English Family.
Well, why am I writing this post? I thought that sharing this story with you, it Could be helpful for someone of you who want to have a similar experience like mine. Surely now I am more confident with English language.

It was very intersting.
But i hope i participate more in the next time!!!!!
Writing a complaint letter
Today in writing class with Byron we worked on writing a polite letter of complaint. The scenario: a terrible office layout leading to poor productivity at work. Take a look at Zu’s writing for an example of the language to use in this kind of letter:

‘Funky’ is an adjective. It can describe people, clothes, music, or indeed any situation which is stylish or soulful. This makes it a positive adjective in American English.
It also has another, very negative meaning.
In 1784, funky meant old and musty,” in reference to cheeses, then “repulsive.” It began to develop positive meaning in jazz slang around 1900, probably on the notion of “earthy, strong, deeply felt.” Some say that funky also was used early in the twentieth century by white writers in reference to the smell that can come from people.
Welcome new course on Tuesday
This Tuesday I had a good opportunity to participate in the first class of new course which was dedicated to the Oil and Gas industry. This class wasn’t easy, we had an assessment but I really enjoyed this lesson. It seemed as if we had a casting for the job on an oil rig. We checked a level of our English trough some tasks which were given us by teachers: grammar test, reading competition, we answered for some questions about video. The most interesting for me was a subject, we tested our knowledge in district of oil industry. Do you know, for instance, how a staff moved to the oil’s station? What should he know about safety and what he have to do when he arrived to the platform … We discussed about it there. Due noisy on the open space on this platform, we moved to the room for meeting off the staff. This fact added reality to the class.
I’ m very welcome the fact that after first wonderful special course “Market Leader Life” we can attend this also special course. English city can be proud having so elaborate making construction as oil rig. I expect new experiments and knowledge which would be possible to receive there.

Environment Protectors Want to Kill Inuits
During our expedition event Rangdi and I were inuits. We lived in freezing cold Alaska and we hunted whales because we needed to eat their meat to survive cold winters. Pax and Imtiaz were environment protectors and they demonstrated against killing whales.

When we went to kill a whale, something we needed for survival, these hardcore environment protectors were there and killed us in the name of the big tasty whale. :(
So what do you think? Who is right? Is it ethical to kill whales for people’s survival and to save our tradition and culture or we should die?

English speaking tip: articulation
Our American teacher Ms. Maze says:
Here is a QUICK tip to help you with English pronunciation and articulation.
When you practice your pronunciation I want you to exaggerate your mouth.
Open your mouth as WIDE as you can when it should be open, make your lips as ROUND as you can when they need to be round, stick your tongue out too far when you need to do a ‘th’.
You will look SO silly, yes, but if you practice things extra big when you are alone, you will do them better when you are speaking with people!
About Ms. Maze:

Ms. Maze is a real life teacher in Languagelab’s virtual English City. She has a Master’s Degree in English and a Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. If you would like to learn English with her come to English City and look for ‘Professor A.H.A. Pax’.
